Thanks for visiting Places Pictures. This is one of a suite of photography gallery web sites being published for the start of 2009. Other web sites in the suite are:

Flowers and things, Pets Pictures, Santa Pictures, People Pictures, Baby Pictures, Art PicturesEvent Pictures and Children Pictures.

There is also another Pets Pictures web site, which lists an extensive range of products that are available showing your favourite photographs. Those products are not exclusive to Pets Pictures, but are available for any of my photographs on any of the gallery sites.

Why Places Pictures?

Well, quite a few of my photographs don’t fall in the categories of either Pets or People, and I wanted a third gallery to cover all of those. Some may not strictly fall within the category of “places”, but I thought the “places” label was generic enough to cover all the other categories.

I am available for photographic sessions throughout south-east Queensland and in other locations by arrangement. Normally for “Pets Pictures” and “People Pictures” there will be a charge for my time, but the pictures taken will be given to you on a CD, to e-mail to friends and family and/or to print with your own printers if you prefer. However, as you will read below, we do offer quality prints that are economically priced.

If you are organising a major event with people and/or pets, or you know of such a forthcoming event, I would be pleased to hear from you with details of the event. If a sufficient number of people are involved who may be likely to purchase our quality silver halide photographs or art canvas prints, I would be happy to photograph the event at no charge. The photos taken would be published on a special gallery on the appropriate web site (generally the following day), for everyone to view.

Photography is a passion of mine, but I also enjoy working with photographs, and I am happy to work on other people’s photographs as well as my own. Perhaps you have some old treasured photographs that have become faded and/or scratched. Did you keep the negatives? If you did, I have a high resolution scanner that will scan 35 mm colour or black and white negatives, or colour transparencies if you have them. These can be produced into enlargements on quality photo paper or art canvas, with improved colour and minor dust and scratch marks corrected.

Before the days of 35 mm photography, 120 mm was the most common format. If you still have 120 mm negatives, these can also be scanned to produce high quality prints.

Photographic prints can also be scanned if you have not kept the negatives. However, there will be some loss of quality compared with scanning the original negatives.

Major restoration work can also be carried out if required. Contact me for a quote for this work.

All photographs on all of my gallery sites are available for sale. Clicking that picture in any of the galleries will take you to a new page with a larger version of the picture.

You will need to record details of that picture to get your prints. If the ordering is being made through a pet shop or other retail outlet. Give them your details along with your payment for the product(s) you desire.

Our prints are made on quality Kodak Matt Enduro Paper. They are silver halide prints ..., not ink jet!

What are silver halide prints?

Before the days of digital photography, film was developed and prints were made on light sensitive paper coated with silver halide. This process was slow and relatively expensive compared with modern ink jet printers, which are generally used today to make prints. However, the end result were prints of far greater quality than can ever be obtained with any printer. Ink prints do not have the same colour intensity and ink will eventually fade and your precious photographs will deteriorate.

Our prints are produced on a Kodak machine which converts the digital image onto light sensitive silver halide coated paper. These machines are not yet in common use as they cost around the $200,000.00 mark each. The results though are far superior.

These quality prints will cost:

6X4 $3.00 per print ($2.00 each if five or more)

7X5 $5.00 per print ($3.50 each if five or more)

8X12 $12.00 per print ($10 each if five or more)

Eight inch by twelve inch is an ideal size for framing, and economically priced frames for this standard size are available in all the major department and discount stores. The matt finish on our enduro prints will not stick to the glass in frames like glossy prints often do.

We are also happy to provide silver halide prints of your digital photos if you would like them done. However, we would need a minimum of 36 taken with the same camera in the same conditions at any one time for both the 6X4 and the 7X5 prints. (we do make corrections for contrast and brightness etc., but only once for the batch). The cost per print will depend on the quantities ordered. Please contact us for details.

The 8X12 prints are processed individually, and orders of one or more will be accepted for this size.

Your pictures can also be made into quality art canvas prints. I purchase the finest quality art canvas and print on it with my 760 mm Roland Versa Cam flat bed printer. You will not find better quality art canvas prints anywhere.

I believe that art canvas prints need to be big and bold, and I prefer to produce finished prints that are large 620 mm X 400 mm and extra large, 820 mm X 620 mm.

Even with my superb quality, my prices are still very competitive. The art canvas prints can be supplied in a cylinder for you to stretch and frame yourself, or your prints can be produced on a stretcher frame ready for hanging. Here are my prices:

820 mm X 620 mm on a stretcher frame ready to hang $180

820 mm X 620 mm rolled canvas in a cylinder $110

620 mm X 400 mm on a stretcher frame ready to hang $120

620 mm X 400 mm rolled canvas in a cylinder $75

The above two sizes are my favourite sizes, however prints can be made any size that you wish (provided they are within the limitations of my printer). For pricing on alternate sizes please go to my Art Canvas Print web site. www.artcanvasprints.ws
